THE IRONY OF WORK HARD AND STILL GET NADA IN THE NIGERIAN SYSTEM

This piece is quite contextual and do have layers of  exceptions. Being born in Nigeria on it's own, comes with a bigger lean of weight on disadvantages than the perks.
It has become very easy and cliché to label a poor or an unsuccessful Nigerian as lazy or foolish. The latter is specifically pointing at the shady routes to riches or success in one's dealings through crooked backdoor channels or going dark and occultic. The concept of thriving for an extraordinary level of success, let's say squeezing your way into a fortune 500 company position in Nigeria, top 10 on forbes list, holding an influential position with high relevance or even get a comfortable mid class level job has been placed on a code access restriction, firstly with the total ridicule of the substance of a degree certificate. The previously listed opportunities or positions are like family, cabal and clique controlled in the country. Nigeria is like the leading figure of nepotism and favoritism. Your competence, qualifications and experience can be quashed by a connected/ favoured rookie candidate. A big middle finger to meritocracy and unfortunately, it just gets worse with time.
I'm to go through this being dodgy of any political inclinations and be purgative all through. Though we got dragged through it via our unfortunate recycle of incompetent hands for decades.
In Nigeria, working hard doesn't certify a flipside of the rough and difficult times. Some die trying, putting triple the efforts required to land them head deep into their destination but barely get to a headstart. We can sometimes find solace in the soothing and reassuring words of our motivational speakers on how the country's woes can't stop you and all, which our hearts gladly sync with, but the system and structure is structured to crush your will out of the race. Most times grace is the bigger player to compliment ones hustle and dreams. Being an entrepreneur in the country from the startup point is a pretty excruciating process, not the usual global idea of humble and hard beginnings but policies and factors tailored to specifically drain you to a break point.
We are all dreamers with set list of targets we hope to brush through in our lifetimes (including yours sincerely) and nobody can ever rearrange the set principles of thriving to actualize dreams but our society has been shitting on the existing logic for decades.
The major point here is, cut people some slack and don't label everybody lazy for not being as fortunate as he/she should have been.

Well... This is more like a vent session for me and…. Bye!

WHY DAVIDO IS ARGUABLY THE MOST HARDWORKING AND EVOLVED NIGERIAN ARTIST

David Adedeji Adeleke. We can all agree he needs no further introduction, yeah? Well let me add he’s 25, a song writer, producer, music tycoon and philanthropist. OBO as he’s preferably called, which is an acronym for Omo Baba Olowo meaning the son of a wealthy man, his career is as good as it can get for a Nigerian artist.      Davido made a dive into the Nigerian music industry back in 2011 with “back when” featuring Naeto C. His first official single on HKN label which is Co owned by his brother Adewale Adeleke. Even though Back when received massive airplay on our radio and TV channels, it failed do the job of driving Davido into our hearts and it was just one of those regular songs we come across everyday. Subsequently he came with the massive hit “Dami Duro”. This one was officially the introduction of the davido brand for me, though I’m still one of those who doubted his ability to last a while in the industry and thought he’s the usual one hit wonder...
